Nestle required the construction of an automated distribution facility and associated lorry parking and engaged with an EPC Contractor to deliver the whole scheme. In turn McCoy were engaged to undertake the earthworks, civil engineering and extension of the existing building.

This involved the reduced level excavation of approximately 100,000tonnes of material which was used either as structural fill, processed on site to form high performance aggregates for use in the lorry park or used in screening mounds. There was a substantial drainage solution installed in order to cope with the high rainfall experienced in the area, including linear drainage, 3nr interceptor tanks, attenuation pipework and the enlargement of an existing pond.

To complement the new distribution facility a 20,000sqm lorry park was also constructed, this tied in with a high level warehouse slab incorporating 11nr dock leveller loading bays all of which was included in our scope of works.

Linking the existing warehouse to the new facility was a steel portal frame warehouse extension, the design and construction of was also in our package. Other notable items of work included ducting to the whole site, gabion retaining walls and in-situ concrete stairs.
