The recognition highlights McCoy Contractors' commitment to embedding sustainability into project delivery and acknowledges the significant environmental benefits achieved on one of the UK's largest logistics developments. The award-winning project demonstrates how innovative thinking and practical construction methods can combine to deliver measurable carbon reductions while maintaining programme efficiency and high construction standards.

The new distribution centre exceeds one million sq ft and saw McCoy Contractors adopt onsite concrete production in place of traditional ready-mix deliveries. The approach enabled the team to manufacture concrete directly onsite, supporting the delivery of foundations, drainage infrastructure, service installations and extensive concrete slabs.

By introducing onsite concrete production, McCoy Contractorseliminated approximately 3,250 concrete truck movements, removing around 65,000miles of HGV travel and delivering an estimated carbon saving of 130 tonnes ofCO₂ emissions. The initiative also reduced waste, improved programme certaintyand minimised disruption to the surrounding community through lower trafficvolumes, reduced noise and improved local air quality.

The judges recognised the project's ability to demonstrate thatsustainability can be integrated into construction delivery in a way thatproduces genuine environmental, operational and community benefits.
