McCoy Contractors has reinforced its commitment to innovation, sustainability and efficient project delivery with the purchase of a new MCM-60 Mobile Concrete Batching Plant, building on the proven success of an on-site batching solution at a project in Doncaster.
The new MCM-60 mobile batching plant is designed to deliver high-performance concrete production directly on site, combining mobility with advanced control and consistent output quality. It features a 1.67m³ BHS Sonthofen twin shaft mixer for efficient and uniform mixing, supported by four aggregate storage compartments with a combined capacity of 20m³. A fully integrated Command Alkon control system enables precise batching and real-time operational control, while metered water and admixture systems ensure accuracy and consistency in every load.
With additional features including a 4,500-litre water tank, 850kg cement weighing hopper and integrated batching cabin, the unit provides a self-contained, highly flexible solution capable of supporting demanding construction programmes with minimal reliance on external supply.
By removing reliance on off-site supply and enabling concrete to be produced as required, McCoy’s can deliver more sustainable outcomes across its projects.
“Our previous use of an on-site batching plant clearly demonstrated the advantages of producing concrete ourselves,” commented Chris Haughey, Managing Director at McCoy Contractors. “Not only does it deliver substantial carbon savings, but it also allows us to operate more efficiently and respond to changing weather conditions on site. This investment ensures we can bring these benefits to future projects and continue improving how we deliver for our clients.”
The investment follows the implementation of an on-site concrete batching plant during the delivery of a large-scale distribution facility in Doncaster, where McCoy’s has successfully placed over 26,000 cubic metres of concrete. By producing concrete on site it eliminated the need for approximately 3,250 ready-mix truck deliveries., removed an estimated 65,000 miles of vehicle movements.
This latest investment highlights McCoy’s ongoing commitment to innovation, sustainability and continuous improvement within the construction sector.
