MCCOY CONTRACTORS LAUNCHES NEW "GET HOME FOR..." SAFETY CAMPAIGN

The campaign encourages employees and subcontractors to think about what motivates them outside of work, whether that is family, friends, hobbies, sport, relaxation or simply enjoying time at home. By connecting workplace safety to the people and activities that matter most, McCoy aims to strengthen its positive safety culture and encourage everyone to take personal responsibility for keeping themselves and their colleagues safe.

At the heart of the campaign is the belief that safety is everyone's responsibility.Team members are being encouraged to speak up when they see unsafe behaviour, challenge poor practices constructively and look out for one another on site. The initiative highlights how many workplace incidents can be avoided through simple interventions and open conversations.

The campaign also reinforces key messages around accident prevention, hazard awareness and personal accountability. Through site briefings and engagement sessions, employees are being reminded that accidents do not ‘just happen’ and that shortcuts, complacency and assumptions can all contribute to incidents.

A key theme of the initiative is ‘Mates Look Out for Mates’, promoting an environment where everyone feels empowered to challenge unsafe acts and positively accept feedback from colleagues. The campaign encourages workers to spot the risk, speak up and make it safe, helping to create safer workplaces across all McCoy projects.

As part of its commitment, McCoy’s is asking employees to pledge to challenge bad practice, stop unsafe work, learn from mistakes and support one another in maintaining the highest safety standards. The overarching goal is clear:everyone home safe, every day.

"At McCoy Contractors, nothing is more important than ensuring every member of our team returns home safely at the end of each day,” commented Chris Haughey,Managing Director of McCoy Contractors. “

Our new 'Get Home For...' campaign is about reminding people why safety matters on a personal level. Whether it's getting home to your family, meeting friends, enjoying your favourite hobby or simply having time to relax, everyone has a reason to stay safe.

"We have robust procedures, training and controls in place, but creating a truly safe workplace depends on all of us. We want every employee and subcontractor to feel confident speaking up when they see something that isn't right and to know that looking after your mates is an essential part of the job.

"By working together, challenging unsafe behaviours and taking responsibility for each other, we can continue building a culture where everyone gets home safe, every day.”

The ‘Get Home For...’ campaign is being rolled out across McCoy Contractors sites throughout the summer and forms part of the company's ongoing commitment to continuously improving health, safety and wellbeing across its operations.
